"When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.  Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for them."  The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.  Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like streams in the Negeb.  Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!  He who goes out weeping bearing the seed for sowing shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him."  Psalm 126

Our God is the God that was faithful in the past, is faithful in the present and will be faithful in the future.  The enemy wants us to forget how God was faithful to us every day up until today.  We tend to forget and not remember how the Lord was faithful in the past.  We worry that God will not be faithful to us today, even in this shutdown with the virus.  We are fearful that God will not come through for us in the future.

We see this in Psalms 126:  When the Psalmist as they are walking up to Jerusalem and begins to thank the Lord for the past.  He was remembering, recounting the faithfulness of the Lord in the past.  "When the Lord restored our fortunes, we will like this who dream.  Then our mouth was filled with laugher, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then the said, "The Lord has done great things for us."  It is good to look back over your life and count the blessings of God in your past."  We need to remember that God saved us, delivered us, healed us, blessed us in our past.

The Psalmist looks to what they are facing in present and prays for the Lord to "Restore our fortunes, O Lord."  Lord we need your blessing, favor, anointing, presence right now!  We read in the New Testament:  "Lord renew your works in our lives today, so that we might rejoice in you."  Lord do it again!  Lord do it in our marriage, family, church, city, and nation!  Lord bless us today!  Our prayer should be Lord Revive Us today,  Renew us today, Restore us today to the right place!

The Psalmist looks forward and knows that we sow now, will bring a harvest down the road.  "Those who sow in rears shall reap with shouts of joy.  He who goes out weeping bearing seed for the sowing shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him."

We see here that if we want God's blessing, favor, restoration in the future, then we need to sow today.  One of the laws of God is the Law of Sowing and Reaping!  If we do not sow today, we will never see a reaping in the future.  If we do not sow to the Spirit today, then we will not be reaping in the future.  But when we go out sowing in tears... we sow even when it is hard, painful, and difficult, because without sowing there is no reaping.  When you sow today, God will give you a harvest later on.  Sow now...reap and rejoice later!"

Today the "Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever!"  So we can relax and know that God is faithful!  That is some good news right now for all that is going on in our world!
