"I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep Your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever more." Psalm 121
We need to remember and realize that our help in life comes from the Lord. The Psalmist reminds us of this promise in life!
The Psalmist tells us - "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come from?" How many times we need to look upwards, look to heaven and ask the same question: "Where does my help come from?"
How would you answer this question? Many of us would say our help comes from the Lord? But do we really believe this? Do we look to the Lord as our Source, and our Resource when things in this world are difficult. Do we look to the Lord first, or as a last resort? We need to know that the Lord is our Source!
When we look to the Lord we need to remind ourselves:
* That the Lord is our Help! He is the only One that can help us in life! He is the all powerful God that created this world, the air we breath, the food we eat, the water that we drink. If God created all of this plus us, then He is able to help us in every situation that we are going through in life.
* That the Lord is our Keeper! The Lord will keep you from falling and failing. The Lord keeps us safe and secure! How many people have said to someone: Are you healthy and safe during this pandemic. The Lord will keep you from falling, because He is watching over our lives, He never sleeps on the job.
* That the Lord is our Protector! The Lord is Your shade on your right hand. When you are out in the hot sun, you look for shade to protect you from the hot sun. The Lord is our protector from the difficult times in life. Do we ask the Lord to protect us, protect our families, and protect our city?
* That the Lord is our Provider! "The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore." The Lord is my provider for my very life. He knows my birthday and my graduation day. "Every one of my days were planned, ordained before one of them came to be."
So today, let us look up and realize that our "Help comes from the Lord." What a great assurance when our world is being shaken apart. I can be shaken, but I do not have to be shaken apart, because the Lord is my helper!
