"Praise the Lord, all nations! Extol Him, all peoples! For great is His steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever." Praise the Lord!" Psalm 117
Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the entire Bible and it shows us what God is like and why He is worthy of praise. Sometimes we need to simplify our relationship with the Lord. We think we need to make it so difficult to know God, love God, serve God, but in reality, let us never forget the relationship that we have with Jesus.
The Psalmist tells all the nations of the world to Praise the Lord. This is one of the reasons I love our ICC family, because we have over 70 nations that call ICC their home church. I love when we are able to gather together and begin to worship the Lord from all of these nations. We come united to worship the Lord!
The Psalmist gives us two reasons to praise and worship the Lord:
1. "For great is His steadfast love towards us! How many of us know that Biblically - God is love, and loves us, but we really do not sense that God really loves me! Love is not just the words that someone says, but love is something that is expressed, demonstrated, and proven to the person that you love.
God really does love you! God expressed His love when He sent His Son to die on the Cross for you and for me. 1 John 3:1 tells us - "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God." God lavishes His love on us! How many people need to experience God's love lavished on them.
God's love endures! It is not fickle, not based on circumstances, but God's love endures through it all. God's love does not give up on us! He loved us when we were sinners and will love us through it all!
#2. "And His faithfulness endures forever!" God is going to be faithful in the good times and even in a pandemic! God is faithful when life is easy and when life is hard! God's faithfulness is eternal, will endure forever! God does not make promises that He is not going to keep, so God can be trusted in all circumstances!
Why should we praise the Lord today? Because great is His love for us, and His faithfulness will endure forever!!!!! So today, just stop and keep it simple with Jesus! God loves me and will be faithful to me! Praise the Lord!
