"Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons, for they rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High. So He bowed their hearts down, with none to help. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart. Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of man!" Psalm 107: 10-15
How many can relate to these verses? Are we overwhelmed with discouragement, depression, hopelessness over what we are going through in this pandemic? Do we have a brokenhearted over a family member that has passed away because of this virus? Do we feel like a prisoner in our own home, because of the sheltering in place order? Are we afflicted by loneliness because we cannot be with family and friends? Are we sitting in darkness because we know that we are rebelling against the Word of God?
When we feel this way we are just human with all of our emotions and feelings. It is then as a Christian we need to know that the Lord uses everything for to work out His good in our lives. But the Lord wants us to come to the place where we realize that there is NO ONE THAT CAN HELP, BUT THE THE LORD! As long as we are looking to others to help us, we miss the help of the Lord in our lives.
But then we see the answer for all of the discouragement, hopelessness, and brokenness. "Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and HE DELIVERED THEM FROM THEIR DISTRESS." That is still the answer for no matter how you are feeling. Cry out to the Lord IN YOUR TROUBLE, and when we do our part then God will do His part. We cry and He delivers!
The Lord is the only One that can bring us out of the darkness, the shadow of death and anything that makes you a captive! Jesus said, "He that the Son has set free is free indeed."
Today, no matter how you are feeling - Begin to "thank the Lord for His steadfast love, for He is still the Savior, Lord, Redeemer, the Miracle Worker, the Lifter of our heads!" CRY AND THEN GIVE THANKS BECAUSE THE LORD IS WORKING EVEN WHEN WE DO NOT SEE ANYTHING HAPPENING!
