“Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” Luke 15:7
Jesus gives three parables in Luke 15 concerning Jesus purpose, plan and passion to reach sinners. This should be our purpose, plan and passion as well.
A Shepherd has a hundred sheep, and one of them gets lost. The good shepherd will leave the 99 and go searching for the one lost sheep until he finds it. When he finds the lost sheep, he picks it up and carries it back to the others.
When he gets back he calls his friends and rejoices because they found the one lost sheep!
Jesus tells us that there is more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents over 99 people who do not need to repent!
Think about it:
Jesus is personally invested in you as an individual. He is searching for one lost person. Jesus is not just interested in the crowds, but you as an individual!
Jesus is persistent and does not give up on you as a person. Let’s not give up on any person.
Jesus is proactive when it comes to you! He does not wait for us to come to Him, but He goes out looking for us! We need to be proactive about looking for those who are lost!
Lord, help us to be on a Search and Rescue team to find lost people for You!
That is something worth giving our lives for as a Christian!
