“Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! O Lord, hear my voice! Let our ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! If You, O Lord should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His Word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, HOPE IN THE LORD! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with Him is plentiful redemption!” Psalm 130:1-7
Over the last number of months we have seen the best and the worst of humanity. We have seen the best of first responders and essential workers, in our hospitals, police, fire, emt’s, and so many others who have served us during this crisis. Thank You!
But we have also seen the worst of humanity in senseless murders in our country. We are witnessing the anger, frustrations, and injustices that are happening in our nation, and know we see the riots, looting and the damage that is exploding in our cities across America! Lord we need Your intervention!
What can we do as God’s People?
In Psalm 130:
• We need to pray and cry out for God’s mercy! We first need to start with us personally! Lord have mercy on me and the sin that is in my life! We need God’s mercy in our marriages and families! We need God’s mercy over our church. Then we need to pray for God’s mercy for our city and nation!
Psalm 130:1-2 “...let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy.”
• We need God’s forgiveness of our sin! In verses 3-4: “If You, O Lord, should mark iniquities, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.”
The main issue is that we all sinners, and fall short of the glory of God. We all need a Savior! No one is any better than any one else. We are all in need of Jesus! We all need God’s forgiveness of sin!
The only hope we have is Jesus forgiving us of all our sin. The only hope for our families, city, nation and the world is Jesus forgiveness of all of our sin.
• We need to wait for the Lord, and put our hope in His Word! Waiting is not being passive or doing nothing. We trust the Lord and live out His Word in our fee see daily lives and wait Him to give the harvest.
We are responsible for our own lives, heart, thoughts, words, actions and attitudes. Lord, help me to live out the word today. Let’s start living out the Fruit of the Spirit today!
• We need to hope in the Lord. For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with Him is plentiful redemption! If God has steadfast love, and plentiful redemption! I am thankful for His love and redemption in my life.
So we should be like our Heavenly Father and love others and share God’s wonderful redemption to others!
If we want to see real change it can only come from the presence of Jesus in our own lives! Jesus said: “We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world!”
Lord, we cry out for Your mercy on our nation!
