"O Lord, I call upon You; hasten to me!  Give ear to my voice when I call to You!  Give ear to my voice when I call to You!  Let my prayer be counted as incense before You, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice."  Psalm 141: 1-2

When we go through adversities, struggles, conflict, like we are seeing in our world today it is easy to give up and feel hopeless.  What should be the Christians response to all the things that are going on in our lives and the world.

That is why I love the Psalms because they offer us Principles of Protection when we go through things.  We see the struggles that David had in his life from sin, hatred, rejection, being a wanted man by the King, bad choices and yet David is always coming back to the Lord.

In Psalm 141 - David shows us a number of things that we need to do when we are struggling!

* We need to pray!  That is easy to say, but when we are in a struggle we really need to pray and even fast.  How many times when life gets difficult we do not have the time to pray.  The enemy will try to distract us from prayer so that we no longer have that connection to God.

When we are in the struggle is when we need to go to the Lord in prayer.  David says: "O Lord, I call on You.  Give ear to my voice when I call to You."

We read this throughout the Word of God - About calling out to the Lord, crying to the Lord, praying to the Lord, Casting all our cares upon the Lord..."

If we want God's help, God's protection, God's peace, God's Power, God's Provision then we need to MAKE THE CHOICE THAT WE ARE GOING TO PRAY WHEN WE ARE IN A STRUGGLE.

* We need to worship the Lord!  Worship is a sign of giving honor and worth to the thing that we are worshipping.  We may get upset if someone worships an idol or a graven image, but how many of us are worshipping other things that God.  Do we worship self, family, jobs, possessions or so many other things.

When we are in a struggle we need to worship God!  Worship is really surrender.  Psalm 141:2 - "Let my prayer be counted as incense before you and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice."

Worship is like an INCENSE, or a sweet aroma that would saturate the atmosphere.  Why?  In the temple, the animals would be killed and burned as a sacrifice for sin.  Think about the smell of all those dead animals.  The incense would be burned to cover the smell of the flesh of the animals being burned.

Worship is our aroma to God because of the flesh, sin, in our own lives.  Why should we worship God, because it is a sweet aroma to God.

Worship is a SURRENDER!  "...and the lifting of my hands as as the evening sacrifice!  Worship is saying to the Lord,  I surrender all to You!  I give up!  I give up control!  I give up my will, and my agenda so that Your will can be accomplished in my life!

Today, if you are struggling, if you want help, protection and God's answer then we need to PRAY AND WORSHIP!
