"But Peter said, "I have no silver or gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!" And Jesus took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God, and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him." Acts 3: 6-10
What a great miracle of healing, restoration and evangelism to reach lost people. The early church was a church that walked in the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit.
What is needed for us to see the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, families, church and our city?
#1. Prayer is a key to seeing the power of God. If we are not connected to the source of power, we will never see the power!
In Acts 3:1 - Peter and John were just going to the temple to pray! This was a normal part of their lives to go to pray. We need to be people of prayer! Prayer brings God and His will into focus into our lives. Prayer is more than something we do when we are in need, but prayer is the key that connects to God, and to all of His benefits in our lives.
#2. We need to be aware of God moments in our lives. When we are connected to the Power source, then we are able to recognize the God moments that God gives to us. I wonder how many times Peter and John passed this lame man before, but this time, God spoke to them about ministering to this man. How many God moments does the Lord give to us, but we are not hearing Him speak to us. Lord, help me to be aware of God moments that you give to me in my daily life.
#3. We need to realize that we may not have the natural means to help people, but we have Jesus and Jesus is enough! Peter and John said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give to you. In them name of Jesus, rise up and walk." Giving money may be helpful but will not solve the real issues of people. What people really need is to be connected to Jesus! When we give Jesus to people, it changes them for today and for their eternal destiny! But we can only give Jesus away, if we have Jesus in us to give to others!
#4. We need to be a part of the miracle! Peter reaches out his hand to them and and raised him up, and he was healed. God wants to use us to minister to other people. Are we available for the Lord to use to reach lost, hurting, sick, people that need a miracle in their lives?
#5. Miracles are not just for the people that are in need, but for all those who see the miracle. The people saw this lame man who has been begging for years, and now the Lord has healed him, and he is walking and leaping and praising God. Miracles are always to lead people to Jesus Christ, and not to the one who received the miracle or those who were a part of the miracle. Every miracle is about Jesus!
We need to be so connected to the Holy Spirit that He can use us to accomplish God's will in our lives, homes, church and in our city! Lord, fill us with Your Spirit, so that we can go to others and give them Jesus!
