"And behold, a lawyer stood up to put Jesus to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?" And Jesus answered, "You shall love the Lord your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. And he said to him, "You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live." Luke 10: 15-28

Jesus was always being tested, because the religious people were trying to trap Jesus, trick Jesus into breaking the religious laws. How many know we have an enemy that is trying to trap us, trick us and to tempt us to sin.

I am thankful that Jesus teaches us to have wisdom and discernment when it comes to giving answers to people. We are told in the Bible - "If anyone needs wisdom, let him ask of God and God will give it." I am realizing that we need God's Wisdom in this world in dealing with people of the world and people in the church.

This lawyer asks Jesus - "What shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus answers clearly and with authority: "You shall love the Lord your God, with all your heart, soul, strength and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself."

Our relationship with God is all about love! God loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for us on the Cross. The only legitimate response is that we would love God back in return. Love is not just words, but demonstration and a response in return.

Jesus says: "You shall love the Lord your God with ALL...." Love means that you are all in! When you love someone you are either all in or you are not in love with that person. Love means commitment, dedication, loyalty, sacrifice, partnership. Love means that you are invested in that relationship. When Jesus tells the lawyer that we are to love God with all. He is saying that you are ALL IN WHEN IT COMES TO LOVING THE LORD! We need to ask ourselves are we all in????

Jesus says that we are to love the Lord with ALL OUR HEART, ALL OUR SOUL, ALL OUR STRENGTH, MIND, AND TO LOVE as YOURSELF.

That is what it means to be all in! Love the Lord with all your heart (your affections, your passions, and your desires). If you love the Lord with all your heart - then there is no other affection for any other god. Love the Lord with all your soul - (our soul is the real us, who we are on the inside, what makes us who we are.) If you love the Lord with all your soul - this is loving Him with all you are. Love the Lord with all your strength - (love him with our bodies, our actions, ministry) When we serve the Lord and His kingdom we are loving Him. If you love the Lord with all your mind - (we develop and grow to know Him every day). We do this through reading His Word, discipleship, worship, prayer, small groups and church. When you love someone you get to know them! How we doing in this love relationship with the Lord.

But then Jesus says - "If you want to have eternal life - then you will love your neighbor as yourself." This is fulfilling the purpose of the Lord - "That He came to see and to save those who are lost."

Lord, help me to be ALL IN WITH LOVING YOU AND LOVING PEOPLE!
